Ghana Tourism Authority Strengthens Ties Ahead of Accra Weizo 2025

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) is taking steps to boost regional tourism by deepening partnerships ahead of the 2025 edition of Accra Weizo. The CEO of GTA, Maame Efua Houadjeto (Mrs), recently met with the organiser of the event, Ambassador Ikechi Uko, to discuss ways to strengthen collaboration and highlight Ghana’s leadership in West African tourism.

In a statement, the Authority said the meeting was “a strategic move to deepen institutional engagement and national support.” The discussions focused on how Ghana can continue to play a central role in promoting seamless travel and cultural exchange across the ECOWAS region.

Accra Weizo is a yearly West African Travel Expo held in Accra. This year’s edition, happening from 27th June to 1st July 2025, will host 30 tour operators from across West Africa. The event aims to promote tourism, business partnerships, and cultural understanding.

The GTA added that the meeting also explored “avenues for collaboration and reinforcing Ghana’s central role in advancing regional tourism initiatives.”
