Foreign Affairs Minister and member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has assured Ghanaians that the Mahama Administration will continue to protect the country’s interests amid growing United States visa sanctions and the introduction of $15,000 visa bonds for travellers from some countries.
In a statement, Mr. Ablakwa noted that as more countries face restrictive US visa policies, Ghanaians should remain confident that Ghana’s foreign policy will always prioritise national interest, fair treatment of citizens, and mutually beneficial international relations.
He stressed that the Mahama Administration is committed to pursuing diplomatic engagements that align with Ghana’s strategic goals and ensure that Ghanaians are not disadvantaged in matters relating to international travel, migration, and visa access.
According to Mr. Ablakwa, government will continue to engage global partners through dialogue and cooperation to safeguard the welfare of Ghanaians while maintaining strong bilateral relationships, including with the United States.
His assurance comes at a time of heightened concern globally, as several countries face tighter US visa requirements, sanctions, and financial bond conditions for travellers.
