Former President John Dramani Mahama has bid farewell to H.E. Daniel Krull, the outgoing German Ambassador to Ghana, marking the end of his four-year diplomatic tenure. During the courtesy visit, President Mahama praised Ambassador Krull’s contributions to the Ghana-Germany partnership, describing his term as “highly successful.”
The meeting highlighted Ghana’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Germany, especially in economic development and regional security. President Mahama expressed gratitude for Germany’s support in strengthening Ghana’s security architecture, including its contributions to the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) and capacity-building programs for security personnel.
Discussions also addressed the growing threat of terrorism in the Sahel region. President Mahama emphasized Ghana’s readiness to collaborate with Germany on targeted training initiatives to bolster regional stability.
On the issue of irregular migration, he underscored Ghana’s partnerships with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the European Union (EU), stressing the need to create sustainable local opportunities for youth to deter dangerous migration routes.
President Mahama concluded by thanking Ambassador Krull for his service and friendship, assuring him that Ghana will always welcome him back.
