Ghana’s Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, met with the World Bank’s Ghana Economic Transformation Project (GETP) task team to discuss key tourism initiatives under the project. The meeting aimed at boosting tourism and job creation while strengthening collaboration between the Ministry and the World Bank.

Hon. Gomashie emphasized the importance of stakeholder cooperation in realizing Ghana’s vision for a thriving tourism sector. She expressed gratitude for the partnership, stating, “The Ministry is committed to working closely with all stakeholders to build an inclusive tourism industry.”
The World Bank team, led by Senior Economist Andres F. Garcia, reaffirmed the institution’s support for Ghana’s economic growth. He highlighted the global demand for sustainable development, adding, “Strategic investments in tourism and the creative arts will accelerate transformation across the sector.”
The meeting included Deputy Minister Hon. Ussif Issaka Jajah, Chief Director Mr. Joseph Kwasi Amaoh, and other Ministry officials. GET Project Co-task team leader, Mr. Andrew Awuni, also attended, contributing insights on funding strategies and execution.
The discussion focused on long-term planning and resource alignment, with the World Bank reiterating its pledge to foster innovation. Mr. Garcia stressed, “Tourism remains a key driver of economic growth, and Ghana’s efforts will set a strong example for sustainable development partnerships.”
This engagement is part of an ongoing effort to ensure effective implementation of tourism projects under the GET Project, positioning Ghana as a leader in tourism and cultural development.
