Ghana has secured a 0% tariff on all exports to China, a landmark agreement set to bolster trade, create jobs, and empower Ghanaian entrepreneurs. The announcement follows productive talks between Ghana’s delegation and China’s Foreign Minister, His Excellency Wang Yi, during the ongoing China-Africa Summit in Changsha.
China remains Ghana’s top trading partner, with bilateral trade exceeding $11 billion last year. The new tariff-free arrangement aligns with President Mahama’s vision for industrial growth, including plans to develop an integrated aluminium industry powered by modern rail infrastructure.

Additionally, Ghana and China have agreed to establish an electric car manufacturing plant, leveraging Ghana’s strategic lithium deposits. A special Economic Partnership Agreement is also in the works to solidify mutual cooperation.
President Mahama’s administration remains committed to leveraging diplomacy for national transformation, continuing the legacy of Kwame Nkrumah and Chairman Mao, who laid the foundation for Ghana-China relations 65 years ago.
