Spotify for Artists is making its Co.Lab event series available on video for the first time, the streaming service announced Tuesday (Aug. 20).
Held a few times a year, Co.Lab events are designed to help artists build their careers via workshops on a variety of music business topics, from planning tours and release strategies to finding collaborators to designing merchandise. The Co.Labs also offer networking opportunities with peers and industry experts.
The first release in the Co.Lab video series was filmed in New York City in May at a workshop called Finding Your Audience, with featured speakers including music supervisor Morgan Rhodes, tour director Christian Coffey, QLEEN Artist Relations founder Sharell Jeffrey and Amit Nerurkar, founder of the artist and album management company face-less. The four short videos, all streaming for free on YouTube and embedded below, range from 9 to roughly 12 minutes.
“Thanks to your Spotify for Artists dashboard, you’re always a click away from seeing how often your releases are being played, by whom, and where,” reads a post on the Spotify for Artists website announcing the video series. “The question now is: What do you do with all that knowledge? How can you use it to reach new fans, and deepen the connection with the ones you already have?”
Launched last year, Co.Lab has so far hosted events in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Wellington, New Zealand. More information on the program is available here.
