The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has partnered with the World Gold Council (WGC) in a major initiative to strengthen sustainable gold mining in Ghana.
The collaboration aims to bring international expertise and market access to Ghana’s gold sector while addressing the persistent challenge of illegal mining in Ghana.
As part of the partnership, the Ministry and WGC will establish a fully traceable gold supply chain, the first of its kind in the country.
This will be anchored by the creation of regulated community gold processing plants under the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP).
The initiative is designed to support ethical mining practices, skills development, and community empowerment, ensuring that Ghana’s gold production is both transparent and sustainable, while contributing significantly to national economic growth.
