Government Closes Tehran Embassy, Begins Ghanaians’ Safe Exit

Ghana’s government has begun urgent evacuation of its citizens in Iran following the escalation of the Israel-Iran conflict. Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced that Ghana’s embassy in Tehran is now closed to ensure the safety of diplomatic staff. He confirmed that evacuations are being carried out through land borders, covering Ghanaian students, professionals, and diplomats.

Ablakwa also assured that the government is closely monitoring the situation in Israel and will advise soon. “We have instructed that embassy operations in Tel Aviv be reduced to the barest minimum, and all Ghanaians in Israel must maintain close communication with our consular department,” he said.

The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting Ghanaian lives. “No effort will be spared in keeping all Ghanaians out of harm’s way,” Ablakwa stated, urging both parties in the conflict to seek peaceful diplomatic solutions.
