Poetic storytailor Selorm Ameza has officially stepped into the realm of Alternative Music with the release of Open Your Minds, a powerful AfroDubPoetry piece available on all streaming platforms, with Audiomack as the recommended listening destination.
Ameza, who has been crafting spoken word poetry for over a decade, describes poetry as his first love, tracing his roots to Upper Primary and Junior High School when his grandmother’s poetry rhyme book sparked his passion. “Poetry is my first love. I begun writing poetry back in Upper Primary and JHS after I fell in love with a poetry rhyme book my grandmother gave me,” he recalls.
With Open Your Minds, he tackles the pressing issue of mental slavery, urging listeners to free themselves from the invisible chains hindering the progress of the Black race. “Open Your Minds speaks of the issue of mental slavery and why we need to free ourselves from the mental chains that are hindering our development as a Black race!!!” Ameza asserts.
This release marks the beginning of a new journey for Ameza, who is now embracing the title of “Alternative Artiste.” His mission? To fuse poetry with music and spark conversations around repatriation, tourism, and African unity.
