When we take a good stock of all the hip hop tunes that hit the Ghanaian radio waves last year, there is always one track that stands tall among the league of the great; a track that would linger on our minds; for many years to come; a track which will be celebrated year after year for its content, dynamic rap style, flow, delivery, and of course production. I’am talking about no other track but 5th August, written and recorded by our new sensational hip hop act Lyrical Joe (LJ); who is not only acclaimed by critics as the Leader of the New School gang of rappers but the President of the new movement called Lyrical Republic.

As a hip hop critic I thought I had seen or heard it all until I bit a piece of his groundbreaking KILL album and eventually when the blinds fell off my eyes, I realised that his track entitled 5th August was the missing magic wand we’ve all been looking for.

Today, we have come along way to understand that 5th August isn’t only a track but now a Tradition which is expected to be upheld by the Lyrical Republicans and their leader Lyrical Joe. And as we draw closer to celebrate the first anniversary of the greatest hip hop tune to have ever hit the country, the management of Boom Entertainment and gHalatrava records, proudly brings to public notice that 5th August vol. 2 would be a perfection of the first edition of the storm that shook the country in 2017. The management  urges the public to remain calm and strap up for the new 7 minutes hip hop bars as volume II promises to be nothing short of exciting and crazy. In anticipation for this euphoria, LJ has released a couple of teasers notably “ICON freestyle” and “the road to August” where he didn’t hesitate to wet our appetite as we await the main course which will be served on a day that doubles as the birthday of LJ and of course a republic holiday for his followers.
