VI Music’s Sensational Afrojazz singer, Adomaa, will deliver on a live stage for the first time, the entirety of her critically acclaimed EP, Afraba with a concert at Alliance Française Accra.
Adomaa, young and new on the scene as she is, is one of the most amazing artistes in Ghana at the moment. In a short time, she has been able to gain a reputation as one to definitely watch out for when it comes to music coming out of Africa and is on a mission to take music on the continent to another level.
She is known as the lovechild of two types of sound – the jazzy, soulful, blues and classical influences that are evident when one hears her sing, and then the highlife, afrobeat and afropop sound of her country and continent where she grew up. Fusing these two sounds, Adomaa is probably best represented as an Afro-jazz artiste.
After the release of her EP, Adomaa simply wishes to serve to fans and all who love good music a live version of what they may have heard on radio or on the recorded album. It is to share with people how far she has come in the past year in the industry, and to enjoy with fans and the general public her emergence as a ‘butterfly’ ready to take on the world with a concert dubbed ‘TheAfraba Concert’.
Afraba is culled from a combination of the Twi word ‘Afraranto’ and the Yoruba word ‘Labalaba,’ which both mean butterfly. Adomaa is drawn to the butterfly symbol because its life cycle mirrors almost exactly to the letter, her music journey so far.
The Concert is mainly a live performance of Adomaa’s recently released mini-album, Afraba(with some old material and exclusive new material thrown in as well)- with help from other great acts such as VGMA female vocalist of the year nominee Adina, the amazing Cina Soul and Titi of Vodafone Icons, acclaimed poet Poetra Asantewa, Sing Aloud with KLM finalists Axel and Eni Larbi, Yaw Prodi 2nd Runner up from MTN Hitmaker 4, Luigi (Stars of the Future), singer-songwriter/guitarist Six Strings, afrocentric singer Eli Muzik, the talented Maayaa and VI Music’s own acts, soul crooner Robin-Huws, producer/singer/multi-instrumentalist Reynolds ‘The GentleMan’, The FRA Band and gospel acts Omari Kiss Jnr, Theodicy and Love.
It will be a celebration of music of different genres, a true music fest, from highlife, to afrobeat, to jazz, soul, afropop, RnB and even a bit of classical music.
The concert will take place on Saturday 2nd April 2016 at Alliance Française Accra- Amphitheatre at 8pm.
Adomaa wants the audience to expect live music at its finest. There’s nothing like music performed with a live band, and Adomaa has been preparing for months to give people a show that will last long in the memory. The audience should expect electrifying performances from all the acts, fused with drama, choreography and a captivating display of light and sound.
If one wants good, quality entertainment, Adomaa’s soft, sultry voice and stage act are enough to both soothe and excite, and to provide a true artistic experience at this concert!
