Fre-D Music – Wahala

‪Fresh off dropping his Don’t Forget To Pray (Freestyle), Fred Chijindu Inaks Onianwa known professionally by his stage name Fre-D or Fre-D GoldRush, is back with a track called “Wahala” which was released on his birthday as a ‘gift’ to his hardcore fans. The track was produced by Le Prezident; and represents a genre the duo conceptualized, called ‘Afro-soul-trap’; mixing African elements with soul and trap music. ‬

‪The track title “Wahala” translates to ‘problems’ in pidgin and the track tells a story of how a lady’s predilection for the finer things puts her courter/admirer in trouble. Fre-D uses word play and soul melodies to paint a picture of a young, braggadocios suitor who bites off more than he can chew in courting this particular lady; ‘Caro’. Lines like “No mercy, no mercy, tryna ball when you’re not Messi/No pennies, no panties, guess we’re kettle and pot belly” depict the story from his perspective.‬
‪ ‬
‪Fre-D, though of Nigerian descent, is based in South Africa where he studies. He cites; Jay Z, Angelique Kidjo, Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade and Oliver de Coque as his major musical influences.‬
‪ ‬
‪Fre-D gets social @buzorboyfred on; facebook, twitter & instagram.‬

Donzy – Pressure (Prod by Street Beatz)

Hiplife musician,Donzy reveals the societal pressure on Ghanaian musicians. The independent artiste in his new song,’Pressure’ touches on the realities musicians faces when they finally grab a hit song.

This requests usually comes in the midst of plans to get settled making most musicians confused about what they should do. Implying the reason why most musicians can not survive after a hit song.

Ghana Djs Will Soon Have No Option Than To Promote Us – Koqromoti

“Soon GH DJs will have no option than give us the attention we deserve… the street is real.”. These are the words of Ghanaian musician Koqromoti. According to the musician, the street is so real when it comes to songs they demand for and DJs can not deny them.

Most people in recent times don’t get their songs played on radio for several reasons. The dominance of foreign songs is one major problem facing the Ghanaian music industry and if what looks like Koqromoti’s prophecy come to pass will save many struggling-talents.

A concern group in the music industry recently started public advocacy for 80% of Ghanaian music on our radio stations and this call will also add some kilos to the ‘fight’.

Koqromoti is an independent musician under Koqnation and working hard to get his music recognized. He has a couple songs and a video to his credit and recently shared the same state with the likes of Edem,Magnom,Lil shaker at the Afenorto Festival at Mepe in the Volta region.
