Roots Addiction, 4Syte TV and MUSIGA have sealed a deal with reggae, dancehall and afrobeats artistes, Knii Lante, Ras Kuuku and Kojo Kombolo to stage the very first Accra Reggae Weekend event slated for Friday 1st September to Sunday 3rd September in Accra.


The three-night, three-venue, weekend-long event that would be a monthly affair will be hosted by Roots and Soul, Dansoman on Friday, Champs Sports Bar and Grill in Paloma on Saturday and Bermuda Bar in Abelemkpe on Sunday.

According to Kwasi Nyarko Ofei aka Root Eye, Director Reggae Department of MUSIGA, the line up has been inspired by the quest to put the best foot forward ‘since massive energy would be needed to power the circuit that would establish reggae music as the new cool’ he stated. Big Hills Band will back all three artistes throughout the mini tour of Accra.

To make the concerts wholesome reggae parties, two-time Reggae DJ of the year award winner, King Lagazzi of Lagazzi Sounds International and Hitz 103.9FM and reggae and dancehall heavyweight, Selekta Fatt will warm up the venues with their unparalleled ‘selekshans’, from foundations to contemporary before the Big Hills Band mount the stages to power up the artistes.

Music industry players have admitted that reggae has now been really packaged for the consumption of real ravers due to the plush venues at which the Accra Reggae Weekend concerts are being held.

This requests usually comes in the midst of plans to get settled making most musicians confused about what they should do. Implying the reason why most musicians can not survive after a hit song.

Ghana Djs Will Soon Have No Option Than To Promote Us – Koqromoti


“Soon GH DJs will have no option than give us the attention we deserve… the street is real.”. These are the words of Ghanaian musician Koqromoti. According to the musician, the street is so real when it comes to songs they demand for and DJs can not deny them.

Most people in recent times don’t get their songs played on radio for several reasons. The dominance of foreign songs is one major problem facing the Ghanaian music industry and if what looks like Koqromoti’s prophecy come to pass will save many struggling-talents.

A concern group in the music industry recently started public advocacy for 80% of Ghanaian music on our radio stations and this call will also add some kilos to the ‘fight’.

Koqromoti is an independent musician under Koqnation and working hard to get his music recognized. He has a couple songs and a video to his credit and recently shared the same state with the likes of Edem,Magnom,Lil shaker at the Afenorto Festival at Mepe in the Volta region.

Ghana-based Nigerian music group,E.N.E Yatt is back with the visuals for their Afropop song,’AKOSUA’. The colourful music video was shot somewhere in Accra to give graphics meaning to the song. E.N.E Yatt is not an entirely new music group in Ghana. They were featured on ‘Dab’ by Gallaxy and delivered more than perfect. This is one of their top three music videos released so far. NanaYaa ft MzVee – Don’t Leave Me Alone

These 4 Walls (‘No one has to know) hit maker NanaYaa has released a new single featuring Lynx Entertainment signed female dancehall artiste MzVee.

Kuami Eugene produced the new single and according to NanaYaa this is her first major female collaboration.

NanaYaa in talking about the song said: the song with MzVee is titled: ‘Don’t leave me alone’ speaks for lovers in a relationship.

She mentioned that the new single is the first of many singles to come off her debut EP to be released soon.
