Meet the new king of rap – Asante The Alpha

New rap artiste Asante the Alpha has just released the audio and the visuals to his hip-hop heavy tune ‘Mee Gye’.

The 4 minute plus song is just Asante staking a claim for the title as the best rapper in the country and after listening to the song you could concur that he indeed has got some point.

The song is laced with word play jabs and exceptional Twi lyricism on a great hip-hop beat that will leave you bumping for more.

The video which was directed by KP Selorm of MiPROMO Media is also eye catchy as the various scenes depict the ruggedness to which he claims the rap king title from a figure he describes but doesn’t name.

Further on ‘Mee Gye’, Asante repeats that he is the new king of rap with his style being authentic and the rest fake.

He calls out your favourite rapper by rapping about him being here to strip him of his crown.

He doesn’t stop there as he says he’s here to rule going on to even describe your favourite rapper’s tongue twisting rap style as ‘nonfa’. Nonfa is something that makes no sense.

This wouldn’t be the first time Asante has called other rappers out to his throne ascension desires.

On his hip-hop song ‘H33333r’ the rapper spoke about the ills in the industry and a whole lot. Asante rapped about there being only 7 top musicians in the music game in Ghana. Hold that’s not all.

On ‘Mee Gye’ and ‘H33333r’ Asante just cut through everyone whilst also thumping his chest as the best rapper in the country. Do well to listen to ‘Mee Gye’.

It’s a wrap! Ghana Dance Festival 2017 finishes off with a competition

The third edition of the Annual Ghana Dance Festival came to a grand close last Saturday, 30th September 2017, at the Accra Mall Food Court with an exciting dance competition dubbed, “Battle In The Ring.”

Graciously hosted by Accra Mall, and powered by DanceteraTV, the Food Court sported a standard boxing ring, characterised by powerful lighting and artificial smoke to give the right ambience for the event. Within this ring battled 10 dance crews of 2 members each, with each crew hoping to be crowned battle champions and be awarded the cash price of GHc 2,000. The competing crews had to go through three stages of battling in different dance genres against each other, chosen by balloting. Judges Shon Mambo, Danie Street (UK) and Obaa Yaa, eliminated the worst teams at each stage of the battle, giving way to the better team to advance onto the next stage. 3 dance crews made it to the finals- Dynamic Duo, Boogie Bust, and Star Boys- and where contestants were tasked to create their own dance routine with the Yomi Yoghurt sound track. In the end, “Dynamic Duo” dance crew was adjudged the battle champions for the night, winning GHS 2,000, cash and some products from Yomi Yoghurt.

On the whole, the 2017 edition of the Annual Ghana Dance Festival will go down as the best edition yet. It started with a grand opening at the Osu Oxford Street Mall, and thereafter four weeks of exciting dance-themed events to represent the different dance genres. Ghana Dance Festival 2017 (GDF ’17) exhibited the ‘Annual Apex Ballroom Soiree,’ ‘The Afro-Latin Congress,’ ‘The Lords of Street Dance Concert,’ ‘Praise Dance Concert,’ ‘Alkebulan’s Awakening- A National Dance Company Production,’ ‘Aerobics Marathon & Games,’ ‘Heritage Night’ and ‘Battle In The Ring Competition.’ These events were seasoned with dance workshops and parties. Apart from Ghana, a total of 11 countries were represented including Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Gabon, South Africa, Cuba, Haiti, Slovakia, Romania, US and UK, giving the festival an international character, and colourful in diversity.

Next year promises to be even richer and grand as preliminary preparations have already begun for the Ghana Dance Festival 2018. The turnout for GDF ’17 also predicts a growing interest for the affairs of the dance community, dancers and dance in general, and thus, a higher participation next year. Dancers, in all the individual genres, as well contributed their quota in making this year’s celebration a successful one, also forecasting a wholly professional, more interesting, and outstanding Ghana Dance Festival for 2018. Special appreciation goes to the sponsors of Ghana Dance Festival, Yomi Yoghurt, Malta Guinness, and The Black Ride. Also Aviation Social Centre, Accra Mall, and Achimota Mall for hosting our events. Media partners TV7, CinePlus, ETV, YFM, and Happy FM. And Finally to the director of the Commission on Culture and Creative Arts, Socrates Safo and Dzifa Gomashie, former Deputy Minister for Tourism Creative Arts and Culture.

‘Timeless Love’; signs of secret love between Adina and Kidi?

Afro-soul singer and winner of Best Vocalist at the Ghana Music Awards, Adina Thembi continues to etch her shrill and lusty voice on not just the fans but carefully coxing her way into the heart of MTN Hitmaker star, Kidi. Celebrity journalists have described the two ‘lovebirds’ as inseparable as they coupled to produce one of the best songs I’ve previewed so far.

Being an experienced producer with one of Africa’s top urban music house, Lynx Entertainment, Kidi is seen as a talented young singer with a promising future on the African music scene. This year has been great for young upcoming musicians especially Afrobeat artistes as their records get encouraging on-air rotation across Africa and some parts of Europe.

‘Timeless love’ – The song

Something soothing about a young, innocent girl’s delivery on a love song, but Adina isn’t; not arguable. Timeless love was originally sung by Spanish singer and songwriter, Enrique Iglesias – a chart-topping soundtrack ‘Cuando me enamoro’ for the award winning Telenovela ‘Timeless love’. Adina’s voice delivery is just prolific.  Key attention to the amazing works on the keyboard as Kidi enters with his doting verse….‘walking to the stars to bring Adina the twilights” Dude got lines.

Adina joins in swearing her hearts out to do anything for Kidi. This is a song for love. In this love song you definitely find fondness of two young people delighted about their feelings for each other and openly expressing it.

If this is just a song, they shouldn’t let it be. I entreat Adina and Kidi to make it real.

Get a taste of the theme song of GHOne TV’s new Telenovela ‘Timeless love’ performed by Adina and Kidi below, and don’t miss this award winning, captivating love story this October on GHOne TV.

Ho Philip Tibu villa on the left after the Ho Police Headquarters (when you?re coming from Ho) and Aflao MAKAVO HOTEL on October 20th, October 21st and October 22nd respectively.
Seasoned but young Ghanaian Showbiz Personnel and PR Consultant, Elorm Beenie, is listed as the main Host for the event in all 3 locations. Elorm Beenie is an Author, A & R, seasoned Blogger and PR Consultant for Africa 1 Media ? an Entertainment law firm that manages huge brands like Sarkodie, Samini, Bisa Kdei, VVIP, just to name a few. Elorm Beenie who has represented on an award scheme (BASS Awards) and has long-standing experience on how awards are run as well as worked with many huge musicians of international repute would handle the workshop with MUSIGA Personnel from the Region (Tony D, Volta Regional Chairman of MUSIGA), Eventic Ghana Team among others.
This initiative is to inform the public and music industry players (in the Volta Region especially) about the various programme outlines, categorizations and criteria of the awards. The seminar will help artists and other stakeholders in the music industry to know what to do and what to expect before, during and after the main event.
Speaking to the CEO of EventicGH, Mr. Kwamivi Ashiaby says “The seminars are very necessary because it is the first time we are doing this for our Region and we need to sensitize the public, especially those of our brothers and sisters in the music industry, to know the rudiments of award schemes. Most often than not, they feel there?s some neglect for talents in Volta or Volta musicians aren’t getting the recognition enough so we had to put this together and help them understand certain things and how to get things done properly to get that recognition but within the Region, nationally and internationally. We will educate them on the award categories, and also how to file for nominations”, he explains.
“We will also teach them the necessary things to know about the categories and criteria definitions. We shall also bring out the awards timetable to ensure a smooth flow of events”, he added.
The organizers started with a radio tour to create awareness in the region and they did tremendously well by visiting every nook and cranny. The tour started from Accra where they granted interviews both TV and radios in Accra.
The organizers had several meetings with MUSIGA executives and other stakeholders in the region, to seek their ‘two cent’ and signing of a memorandum to stage the awards with their involvement.
Investigations show that an award of this sort was once held in the region, but this very one is the biggest music award yet to ever grace the region.
